Category Development Officer – CPG

Spotify is seeking an outstanding Category Development Officer for the CPG vertical. The ideal candidate will be a CPG industry expert, understanding the industry landscape, what drives consumer behavior, and what matters most to CPG marketers. You will be able to identify consumer trends and translate that to action at Spotify. Working closely with internal marketing, product development and research & measurement teams, you will build category specific solutions at scale. You thrive from innovation in the specific category and understand “what’s next,” making sure our verticalized sales teams are in front of client needs and consumer engagement. You will work with Spotify Global and Regional Sales leaders as well as cross-functional partners across Spotify to create meaningful innovation and the strategic approach for the category that leads to greater customer value and growth. You are the narrator of Spotify’s broad solutions for the CPG category and the voice of Spotify to the industry, providing thought leadership and high-touch client engagement. Your core KPI is increasing the full value of the CPG vertical quarter by quarter.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Influence buyer behaviors across Spotify’s CPG global client base
  • Help define Spotify’s strategic approach to the CPG category
  • Maximize revenue to the vertical through the creation and marketing of products and services targeted specifically to CPG vertical needs
  • Report on CPG trends and buyer insights from relevant industry research, studies and internal
  • Identify and report consumer trends analysis specific to the CPG vertical
  • Maintain Spotify’s CPG narrative in partnership with Spotify Strategic Marketing
  • Align with product marketing and measurement teams to build scalable product solutions
  • Serve as the frontline of product innovation to maximize needed brand outcomes
  • Provide strategic client engagement, thought leadership, and solutions to core client needs
  • Understand global category needs and refine regional strategy as needed
  • Support defined regional Spotify leadership teams, providing commercial support, strategic guidance and category leadership
  • Enable clients to maximize the business and brand-building potential of Spotify both on and off platform
  • Collaborate with internal local and cross-functional teams to ensure knowledge transfer, product design and to improve the process and impact of our work with clients
  • Be the voice of Spotify category expertise at key client events and industry speaking engagements

Professional Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience working in the CPG advertising and marketing space, leading and designing strategy and driving measurable results
  • Deep CPG domain expertise, working in or with category leaders
  • Ability to interpret and action marketing analytics and insights
  • Experience managing geographically diverse teams with a range of experience and expertise
  • Strong analytical skills with a strong foundation of data and communicating the benefits of marketing opportunities to brands
  • Creative problem solver who is highly adaptable to change
  • Deep collaborator who has expertly navigated complex, matrixed organizations, demonstrating their ability to influence others and build trust
  • Comfortable with key decision makers and C-level executives, inside and outside of Spotify
  • Frequent regional travel, some global travel required
