Social Content Producer – The Ringer

The Ringer seeks an social content producer to join its New York team. The ideal candidate will be driven and looking to lead the creative process of content creation across all sports, pop culture and tech. Strong writing skills and a sharp editorial eye are required, and an understanding of social and digital media is a necessity. The ability to work creatively within a team and lead the ideation process of content production is paramount. Familiarity with the existing social content platforms is required, as is the ability to expand original content creation in line with how The Ringer differentiates itself from the competition.

What You’ll Do

  • Take a leadership role on content creation across all of  The Ringer’s social content channels, including continuing to establish our voice and engaging with the audience through community management
  • Act as lead producer for our full range of video projects, from preproduction through content distribution strategy across our various platforms
  • Develop original programmatic social-first content franchises
  • Supply preproduction and research for social video content
  • Operate mobile studio or field production equipment as necessary
  • Aid in the planning of content scheduling and production development
  • Most importantly, make smart, creative, shareable work you’re proud of
  • Handle direct-t0-social content distribution for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube
  • Identify potential areas of growth across existing audio, video and editorial Ringer properties
  • Develop relationships and create partnership opportunities beyond our existing Ringer universe with a focus on growth and audience development

  • Proficiency in producing shareable and engaging social-first content, explainers and real-time reactive video
  • Strong working knowledge of basketball, pop culture and tech, including but not limited to current events and relevant historical context
  • Basic familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premiere and Photoshop, with a focus on developing these skills
  • Capacity to work and react quickly in a digital news environment
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and thrive under pressure, which may involve working evenings and weekends
  • Deep understanding of news and story lines, with sound journalistic ethics and judgment
  • Strong writing skills, including a capacity for SEO-friendly headlines and descriptions
  • Collaborative personality with strong communication skills
  • A desire to be challenged and improve
  • Minimum of four years experience in digital video/media
  • A passion for The Ringer’s content
